AGM Outcome and Membership Changes

We are pleased to announce your Committee for 2016-17 is unchanged and remains as follows:

President: Derrick Toh
Vice President: David de Alwis

On behalf of the Committee, we thank you for ongoing support and look forward to growing an organisation that will represent a Christian faith based view in the legal profession.

Incorporation

Last year, we were officially registered as an incorporated association with not for profit status. This was to ensure that we are able to continue carrying out our activities and events in the appropriate way from a liability perspective and also remain accountable to our members according to acceptable good governance standards.

Membership

In order to ensure that we are a viable organisation, we are reinstating a very modest membership fee from 1st of July 2016 as follows:

Full member – $20.00 per annum
(This type of membership is for those who are working as a paralegal/workplace trainee/solicitor/barrister/member of judiciary/academic/other professional)

Student member – $5.00 per annum
(This type of membership is for students studying undergraduate/postgraduate/Juris Doctor degrees, or for those who are seeking employment)

There is no prorated amount. We have simplified the fee structure from previous years as much as possible to avoid any confusion.

Dear members and friends,

We thank you for your support in 2015 and are looking forward to coming together as a community with greater impact and voice in 2016.

This year, we are asking for articles or opinion pieces to be submitted for publication on this website. Suggested topics include law reform, tips on how to manage work/life balance in the law, the refugee crisis in Australia and the intersection between faith and law.

If you are interested in having your voice heard, please submit a short outline (50-100 words) of your proposed article to secretary@clsvictoria.org and our team will get back to you.
